Walking in the Chablis vineyards

Day 6 Chablis the home of Chardonnay

Day 6 A walk in the Chablis vineyards. After a fun day 5, it is time for lunch in Chablis the home of Chardonnay. We visited the excellent bistro in the Logis Hostellerie des Clos. With our entree, we selected an awesome crisp Blanc de Blanc champagne. We followed this with a Premier Cru Chablis with our main course.

Did you know that champagne vines are pruned in four different ways? 🧐 One of them is Chablis pruning and we went to visit the cradle of Chardonnay wine – Le Clos, with arguably the most exclusive Chardonnay grapes anywhere. Finally, after a day of walking through the town of Chablis, the home of Chardonnay, it was time to go back for a rest.

We drove to our accommodation. Michael booked us into an awesome old mill called Le Moulin de Poilly with 200 years of history breathing from its walls. The owners are a welcoming couple, and I have chosen a room with a river view. Our bathtub was located under an old wooden beamed ceiling. It is inviting us for an evening soak and a glass of vintage Petit Chablis – a true gem we found. It had been a dream to visit Chablis the home of Chardonnay. After such a fun day we couldn’t wait for day 7.
