Day 3 Cotes des Blancs

Day 3 Cotes des Blancs

Day 3 Cotes des Blancs. After driving over from our day 2 hotel, we drove to our next stop. At the village of Cramant in the heart of the Cotes des Blancs, we were welcomed at champagne Voirin-Jumel by Julie, who was a star. It is two years since we tried to stay overnight in their lovely B&B room with a little garden overlooking the vineyards. We really wanted to visit to meet the family and to taste their Grand Cru champagne. We drove over from Vertus and stopped for degustation. It was extremely easy to select our favorite bottles of awesome Grand Cru champagne.

It was so easy, I bought two half kilograms of honey made in the village by an 80-year-old gentleman. This amazing man spent his profit from selling honey buying queen bees.

The next stop was Bergères-les-Vertus. Every year we stop to say hello to Brigette Vallois at champagne Francois Vallois. This was the very first champagne house we visited many years ago. Every year we visit to talk about family matters. Trying different Cuvee, we shared photos of our families. I bought some lovely new champagne capsule earrings, which are all the rage now.

Next, we stopped at Intermarche and bought fresh produce for a picnic. We performed our oldest tradition in champagne, to picnic in the park at the nearby Chateau d’Etoges, which was the first hotel we ever stayed at on the Cotes des Blanc. This time we selected a completely unexpected champagne from Reims-based G.H.Martel, which was the only cold bottle of champagne we could find in the local Intermarché….lovely just lovely 🥰 Day 3 Cotes des Blancs was wonderful, stay tuned to find out where we are going next on day 4.
